90ml Yixing Heijinsha Zini Xi Shi Teapot

£95.00

A compact 90ml unglazed Heijinsha Zini Xi Shi teapot, selected for focused Gong Fu brewing with a secure card-style lid and integrated spherical multi-hole filter.

About This Teapot

There is a particular stillness to a well-proportioned clay teapot. Before the first infusion is poured, its shape already suggests the rhythm of the session: water, leaf, warmth and pause.

This approximately 90ml teapot follows the traditional Xi Shi (西施) form. Its softly rounded body, circular handle and short, gently tapered spout create one of Yixing's most enduring silhouettes. The compact capacity naturally encourages attentive Gong Fu brewing, allowing each infusion to reveal another layer of the tea.

The pot is made from unglazed Heijinsha Zini clay, distinguished by its deep charcoal-brown tone and naturally occurring mineral inclusions visible across the matte surface. With regular use the exterior may gradually develop a richer satin patina.

Inside, a raised spherical multi-hole filter supports an even controlled pour while allowing rolled, twisted and compressed leaves ample room to expand through successive infusions.

Suitable Teas

This teapot is ideally suited to Wuyi Yancha, Dan Cong Oolong, traditional and roasted Taiwanese Oolong, Sheng Pu'er, Shu Pu'er, Liu Bao, Hei Cha and full-bodied Chinese red teas such as Dian Hong. Many tea drinkers choose to dedicate unglazed clay to one broad family of tea to allow the vessel to develop its own character over time.

Craftsmanship

The appeal of this teapot lies in its restrained proportions rather than ornamentation. The rounded body, balanced handle, secure card-style lid and integrated multi-hole filter combine practical everyday brewing with a timeless classical form. It has been selected as a modern workshop-produced teapot for serious daily Gong Fu use.

Character

Quiet, balanced and purposeful, this is a teapot designed for unhurried sessions. Its modest capacity encourages slower brewing, allowing the changing character of the leaves to unfold naturally over many infusions.

Care

Rinse thoroughly with hot water before first use. After each session remove the leaves, rinse with clean hot water and allow the teapot to dry completely with the lid removed. Do not use detergents or scented cleaning products. Slight variations in clay colour, mineral inclusions and surface texture are natural characteristics of the material.
